Dear All,
The Asian Federation for Sexology, newly named the Asia Oceania Federation for Sexology (AOFS), was found in 1990 and Prof. Man Lun Ng became to be the founder president. The biennial congress was continuously conducted, and the last conference, 9th Asia Oceania Congress of Sexology, was held in Bangkok, during 1-4 November 2006.
The next coming, 10th Asia Oceania Congress of Sexology, will be held in Beijing, China, during 16-20 October 2008. The president of the congress is Prof. Peicheng Hu, Dean of Divison of Medical Humanities, Peking University Health Science Center, 38 Xueyuan Lu, Haidian District, Beijing 100083, P.R. China, E-mail: pchu@hsc.pku.edu.cn
At present, AOFS has the Sexual Health Journal (Australia) to be an official journal, start from Volume 4 Issue 1 of year 2007. Several executive committees of AOFS are involved in the editorial board of this journal, as follow: a) Dr. Verapol Chandeying (Thailand), as joint editor; b) Prof. M.L. Ng (Hong Kong), as joint editor; and 3) Prof. P.G. Adaikan (Singapore), as editorial advisory committee. AOFS members and interesting colleagues can submit the manuscript via the Website address of www.publish.csiro.au
According to AOFS Executive Committee Meeting on 2 November 2004, Dr. Chavalit Mangkalaviraj (Thailand) was appointed to be the Member Secretary and took the responsibility to set up the AOFS Inter Webpage. I would like to express my gratitude toward his effort. The financial support shall be come from Consortium of Thai Training Institutes for STDs and AIDS (COTTISA). This page will serve AOFS members and potential members of AOFS in the future, and will be horizontal link and communication between, AOFS executive members, AOFS executive members and ordinary members, and so on. The addition purpose of the Webpage in term of online application and money payment will be sorted out to promote and raise the number of AOFS membership.
The academic activities of AOFS are going on and fruitful progression, of course, by the collaboration, coordination, and cooperation of every party. I can foresee that the Networking of Sexologists in Asia Oceania has been growing strong, with an increasing number of members, and more importantly, enthusiastic members from more country society/academic body. In parallel, the Federation has also worked closer and closer with the World Association for Sexology (WAS), newly named the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS).
Sincerely,
